Private lessons

Prefer a teacher just for you?

Besides the recorded courses, you can take live lessons with a teacher, once a week and on any instrument.

  • Live, just you and your teacher.

A lesson designed for you, with someone who listens to you and corrects you on the spot.

  • Three types of lesson.

In both, you upload a video every week so your teacher can watch it before the lesson. The dynamic lesson lasts from 15 minutes to half an hour, with tips and theory: from €40 a month. The intensive lesson lasts from half an hour to one hour and has more musical interaction: from €75 a month. Each teacher sets the length and the fee of their own lessons. And if you only want one lesson, there is the single lesson: just once, with no subscription or commitment.

  • You choose your teacher.

First the instrument (or general music), then the teacher's country and language, and finally the type of lesson and your weekly time.

  • Times in your time zone.

You see each lesson at the time on your own clock, with no calculations.

Benefits

Everything you need to learn, in one place.

Recorded courses, live lessons with your teacher and masterclasses with guests, without switching apps.

  • A clear path, not random videos.

Each level tells you what to practise and in what order, so you always know what the next step is.

  • Someone who watches you play.

In private lessons, your teacher follows your progress and helps you improve.

  • Masterclasses with guests.

Every now and then, an online masterclass on a specific topic, with someone we choose ourselves. We announce them on the platform.

  • On your schedule, on any device.

Study whenever it suits you, from your computer, tablet or phone.

How it works

Getting started is easy.

  1. Book your trial lesson.

You choose what you want to learn, your teacher and the time of your weekly lesson. You save a card with Stripe and nothing is charged today.

  2. Try it live with your teacher.

Your first lesson with your teacher is a free trial, and it lasts as long as your weekly lessons. It's a chance to get to know them, for them to get to know your level, and to see what a live lesson is like.

  3. Continue with one lesson every week.

7 days after the trial, your subscription to a weekly lesson with your teacher starts automatically, at the same time, unless you cancel it first from your account.

Music isn't learned by watching videos. It's learned with a clear path, a teacher who guides you and the desire to play every day.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

  • What's the difference between courses and private lessons?
Courses are recorded lessons that you buy by level and watch whenever you like. Private lessons are live lessons with a teacher, once a week, for a monthly fee; or a single lesson, just once and with no commitment.
  • What's the difference between the dynamic and the intensive lesson?
In both, you upload a video every week with what you've practised, and your teacher watches it before the lesson. The dynamic lesson lasts from 15 minutes to half an hour, depending on the teacher: your teacher analyses your video and, in the lesson, gives you advice and expands on the theory. The intensive lesson lasts from half an hour to one hour, depending on the teacher, and has more musical interaction: you play with your teacher. It's for people who need more support, a more advanced level, or simply prefer this type of lesson. We keep up to 3 of your videos, and each one is deleted automatically after 15 days.
  • What is a masterclass?
A masterclass is an online session on a specific topic, with a guest we choose ourselves. They don't follow a fixed calendar: we announce them on the platform whenever there's a new one.
  • Do I need to know music to get started?
You don't need to know music to start: every course begins at the beginner level.
  • Which courses can I take now?
There are no courses on sale yet: we're starting with private lessons and the courses will follow. The first will be Piano at beginner level, and you can already see what its blocks will look like. General music, guitar, violin, flute, double bass, bass, drums, music composition, music production and choral conducting will come later. Private lessons, on the other hand, cover every instrument and general music as soon as there are teachers.
  • What does the free trial lesson include?
Your first lesson with your teacher is a free trial, and it lasts as long as your weekly lessons. It's a chance to get to know them, for them to get to know your level, and to see what a live lesson is like. To book it you choose a teacher, a type of lesson (dynamic or intensive) and a time, and you save a card with Stripe: nothing is charged today. 7 days after the trial lesson, your first fee is charged to that card and your monthly subscription starts automatically, at the same time every week, unless you cancel before then.
  • How much does it cost after that?
Courses will be available by level: the whole level or block by block, and the whole level will cost less than all the blocks separately. The first lesson of every course will be free. In Piano (beginner), each block will cost €39 and the whole level €156: you'll pay for 4 blocks and get all 5. Private lessons cost from €40 a month for the dynamic lesson and from €75 a month for the intensive one: each teacher sets the fee and the length of their own, and you see it before booking. It's one lesson a week with the same teacher and the same subject.
  • Is there a promotion if I pay for the whole year at once?
Yes, for private lessons. If you pay for the whole year at once (12 fees, from €480 for the dynamic lesson and from €900 for the intensive one, depending on your teacher's fee), we give you a Thomann gift voucher for your equipment: €25 with the dynamic lesson and €100 with the intensive one. You receive it 30 days after the payment and you see it in "My lessons". The plan lasts 12 months and does not renew automatically.
  • How many levels does a course have?
Each course has three levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced, and you move from one to the next at your own pace. Right now only the beginner level of Piano is ready.
  • Can I cancel?
Yes, from your account. If you cancel before the first charge, you pay nothing. If you cancel afterwards, your lessons continue until the end of the month you've already paid for. If you've paid for the whole year at once, the plan lasts 12 months and can't be cancelled from the website: contact the academy.
  • What if I can't make a lesson?
If you miss a lesson, it's lost. If you let your teacher know at least 48 hours in advance, they can try to move it to another time if they're able to, always at their discretion.
  • What are lessons with a teacher like?
They are live, by video call inside this website, at the time of your weekly lesson. You don't need to install anything or have another account: you enter your lesson's room from "My lessons", with your camera and microphone. Each lesson has its own private room, just for your teacher and you.
  • What do I need to get started?
An internet connection and a computer, tablet or phone with a camera and microphone. Before every live lesson, the platform checks your camera, your microphone, your sound and, if you play one, your piano or keyboard over USB, so the lesson sounds good. Test your equipment now.
  • How do I pay, and is it safe?
Payments are handled by Stripe. The academy does not store your card details.
  • What happens with my data?
We only keep what's needed to give you access to the lessons. You can ask us to send you your data or to delete it whenever you like.
